Google Pixel 4: Display, Cameras and much more

3 min read

We have tons of leaks about upcoming Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL smartphones. As far as we assume, Pixel 4 will definitely look like as leaks are suggesting it to be.

Display on Pixel 4 :

All that we know at this stage is that, yes, there would be no Bathtub like notch on the Pixel 4 XL as we saw this disappointing notch on last year’s Pixel 3XL. If somebody thinks that ‘No Notch’ should probably be more than enough to interest notch-haters, there is a slightly large top bezel (it seems like Google wants us to hold Pixel 4 from the top).

Note that it should bother everyone who hates notch or bezels, as it is literally jam-packed with a lot of techs that are mentioned later.

Looking for screen sizes, the new Pixel is expected to come with a 5.8-inch AMOLED display, while the 4 XL is set to offer a 6.4-inch AMOLED panel. Both Pixel phones will have a QHD+ screen resolution, so we hope there will be no issues with colour shifting as we saw in earlier devices.

Note that there are some rumours that the new Pixel 4 could include an In-display fingerprint scanner alongside the new face unlocking tech on the large top notch. While this would be a neat inclusion, it is still pretty unclear at this point if we will actually see the two biometric unlocking functions, or if Google will adopt the iPhone approach of relying solely on face detection for security.

Face Unlock and Motion Sensor :

Unlike other leaks, face unlock and motion sensors were rumoured back in June and confirmed by Google. On Monday, Google released a video and blog post showing that its Pixel 4 will have a Soli radar chip.

Face Security on Pixel 4 would be different from Face ID i.e being used in iPhone X series.

Motion Sensor feature is not unlike the LG G8 ThinQ and offers a glimpse into a touchless future of the technology.

Android Q on Pixel 4 :

Following the trends of Google, it is certain that the Pixel 4 line will be one of the first smartphones to run Android’s latest OS i.e. stock Android Q. Because Google OS names are alphabetical, the upcoming Android 10.0 update is temporarily known as Android Q before its official name launches.

Although Android Q is in beta testing right now, many reports say that Android Q will have a system-wide dark mode for LED displays, new permissions features, improved facial recognition and enhanced security of the smartphones.

Pixel, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Realme and others are currently testing Android 10.0 Beta on some of their compatible devices.

Square Camera Setup on Pixel 4 :

Currently, we don’t know the specs of camera setup on the Pixel 4 but not only did the Google confirm the name, but it included an image, which depicts multiple rear cameras encased in a square housing.

5G Connectivity:

While it would be awesome, it’s still pretty unlikely that 5G connectivity will be included in the base models. Although with that said, we’re not ruling out a potential Pixel 4 XL 5G model entirely… maybe…
