2019 was a great year for OnePlus, in which they made it clear that they can have mid-range flagships like OnePlus 7 and more pricy high budget flagship like OnePlus 7 Pro.
OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro release date
As we know last year, OnePlus 6 was launched on 22 May and OnePlus 7 on 14 May. So we can guess that OnePlus 8 flagship will also release on May this rear.
But our source has informed that the OnePlus 8 series will launch in mid-April this year.
There are also rumors in the market that the OnePlus 8 series was earlier decided to launch on 14 April.
OnePlus 8 expected Price
Our source was unable to confirm the exact price of the device. But we don’t expect the standard OnePlus 8 to cost less than $599 (AU$868).
By the same token, we are guessing the OnePlus 8 Pro to cost less than $699 (around AU$1,010).
However, there’s no leak of a OnePlus 8 Lite, which could come to be a cheaper option.
OnePlus 8 design
OnePlus 8 specs leak suggests that this time OnePlus will introduce a punch-hole design.
Interestingly, the OnePlus 8 is said to have an alloy frame with glass back, using Gorilla Glass 6 for the front.
A spec breakdown suggests that the OnePlus 8 is said to be a lot more waterproof than previous versions.OnePlus 8 have an IP53 rating, while the OnePlus 8 Pro has an IP68 rating, which means they are far more water-resistant.
Waterproofing can attract a large audience and we believe OnePlus was working in this area.
A big leak suggests the OnePlus 8 Pro will have a 6.7-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.
While OnePlus 8 and 8 Lite will have a 6.44-inch screen with 90Hz refresh rate.
Each of them is set to have a Super AMOLED display.
We’re guessing the OnePlus 8 may not have a flat display rather than a curve towards the edges.
Interestingly, a leak suggests that the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will be loaded with 60MP cameras.
Consisting of 16MP on each, then maybe a 13MP on the Pro and 12MP on the norma version.
Yet, we can not comment on the lenses they are using this time.
OnePlus 8 battery life
The OnePlus 8 may have a 4,000mAh power battery while the Pro version may have a 4,500mAh battery.
OnePlus 8 specs leak is also suggesting that the base version will have a 30W charging while Pro will have a 50W charging.
It has not done in the past but this new flagship may support wireless charging.
There is nothing we can say about charging speed.
OnePlus 8 specs and noteworthy features
OnePlus 8 specs leak shows that the upcoming top-end processor Snapdragon 865 chipset.
We are not counting out the possibility of 4G phone but another important source has informed that the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will be giving 5G options or, possibly, only launch in 5G versions.
Since 5G phones are getting more preference in the market, the latter could be likely true.
We’ve also now seen benchmarks backing up the possibility of a Snapdragon 865 chipset.
But benchmarks are confusing as they are listing 8GB of RAM. Though we’re not sure whether this is for OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 Pro, as another benchmark lists 12GB for one of the phones.
One trustworthy specs leaks, which points :
8GB or 12GB in the OnePlus 8 Pro,
6GB, 8GB or 12GB in the OnePlus 8,
8GB in the OnePlus 8 Lite.
The possibility of a choice of 128GB or 256GB of storage in all three models can not be counted out.
OnePlus 8/8 Pro noteworthy leak/rumors:
1. The OnePlus 8 Pro will launch with 30W wireless charging :
Wireless charging still isn’t evolving fast, but it is still a must-have addition to any phone. Having your phone charged by one of the best wireless chargers is still better than having a wire which has to plug in and pull out every time you need to use your phone.
And while some may not appreciate it as a killer feature, the “reverse wireless charging” to lend give someone your battery life to another device is handy (in theory, anyway.)
2. The OnePlus 8 might launch on 14 April.
3. OnePlus 8 could come with waterproofing.
4. OnePlus will be packing a 120Hz display into the OnePlus 8.
5. OnePlus 8 might support 5G:
We know both generations of OnePlus phones in 2019 had a 5G version – the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G was the highest-specced Pro models of the phones.
OnePlus 8 is certainly a affordable 5G phone. Other 5G phones like the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G were notably pricier.
We will love to see the 5G revolution to pace up which will be assured by a lower-cost OnePlus 8.
6. OnePlus 8 Pro could feature a Face ID style:
While fingerprint sensing makes things convenient, it’s nice to just look at the phone to unlock it.
As Android 10 enables Face Unlock, it would be great to have the feature in addition to the fingerprint scanner.
