Before launching the Realme 5 Pro, Realme already started reshaping Indian smartphone consumers’ perceptions with its relatively aggressive pricing for better specifications in India.
Four months later, Realme hosted another event to launch the successor to their former flagship and this device was called the Realme 5 Pro.
Realme 5 Pro Specifications
The Realme 5 Pro carries over the display from Realme 3 Pro; it is a 6.3-inch IPS LCD unit with Full HD+ screen resolution. The display has a U-shaped drop notch at the top that holds a front-facing camera, and the screen comes protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5.
The most notable upgrade comes with cameras. In terms of camera, the new Realme 5 Pro comes with four rear cameras that’s two more than what the Realme 3 Pro offered which was launched in April.
The primary camera is a 48 MegaPixel sensor, and it can record 4K videos at 30fps. The second rear camera is an ultrawide 8MP sensor. Both remaining sensors have a 2MP resolution in which one sensor to help in taking macro shots, and the other to assist in capturing more detailed portrait images.
The front-facing camera is the same 25MP unit that’s the same as in the Realme 3 Pro; it has an f/2.0 aperture and can record Full HD videos at 2k resolution.
Processor, RAM, Storage, and Software
While their Realme 3 Pro had the Snapdragon 710AIE octa-core SoC which has decent performance at extreme levels, the Realme 5 Pro comes with an upgraded chipset by Qualcomm, which is the Snapdragon 712AIE SoC.
Snapdragon 712AIE SoC is made on 10nm fabrication process, and it features eight Kryo 360 CPU cores and Adreno 616 GPU for a better graphics experience.
Battery and Connectivity in Realme 5 Pro
There are multiple memory configurations to choose from, and the base variant of the Realme 5 Pro has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There is also a microSD card slot if you need to expand the storage.
The smartphone runs on Android 9 Pie operating system loaded with custom UI Color OS 6 which has a lot of customizations and unique features.
Following the Realme 3 Pro, the Realme 5 Pro features the same 4045mAh battery. It also comes the same 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging out of the box.
However, this time around, Realme has equipped the Realme 5 Pro with USB Type-C port for a rich experience.
And speaking of connectivity, the Realme 5 Pro has dual-SIM with dual-4G-LTE and dual-VoLTE support. There is support for dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth v5.0, and a 3.5mm audio jack as well. In terms of security, the device has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner which is pretty fast as they claim.
The smartphone aspires to look a lot more flagship and premium than its price tag would suggest to anyone. More evidently because they are using “Crystal design” on the back of the phone which almost looks like facets of a diamond.
However, the truth is that it still has a polycarbonate(Plastic) body and it will be susceptible to scratches over even a short time. Thankfully, their included case adds a little more peace of mind.
It definitely wouldn’t feel very premium in the hand and attracts ample smudges too. Overall, it’s a functional design that isn’t too slippery or bulky but is unlikely to blow you away. It looks more interesting than your regular plastic back phone and doesn’t feel flimsy.

The Realme 5 Pro is definitely a placeholder for the best budget smartphone in the Indian market, thanks to its consistent performance, above-average battery life and relatively great camera performance at this price point.
They could have gone with the glass back for better build quality and ColorOS skin on the front can take some getting used to, but if those aren’t your top preferences, then it deserves a place to be on your consideration list.
